AI-platforms (artificial Intelligence) ook wel KI genoemd (kunstmatige Intelligentie)  bieden steeds meer mogelijkheden om voorspellingen te doen, aanbevelingen en intelligente ondersteuning bij beslissingen in onder andere de zorgsector. Daarmee worden dergelijke systemen in toenemende mate integraal onderdeel van IT-infrastructuren. Organisaties dienen zich dan ook nu al wegwijs te maken in de adoptie en het gebruik van deze technologie. Artificial Intelligence geeft artsen de mogelijkheid om de informatie verzameld door een machine te combineren met de informatie van de patiënt. Zo ontstaat een kruisbestuiving tussen algemene informatie en de unieke context van een patiënt. Een arts moet vervolgens bepalen hoe waardevol de nieuwe informatie is. Zo kunnen machines en mensen er samen voor zorgen dat de patiënt meer centraal komt te staan.
