Withings – a French consumer electronics company specializing in smart scales, smartwatches and other health technologies – unveiled a home urine lab. The sensor located in the toilet bowl tracks:
  • LH (Luteinizing Hormone) for precise menstrual cycle prediction & ovulation window determination;
  • Specific gravity for water balance;
  • pH for protein-vegetable balance.
This is the first device on the market that allows for ongoing urine analysis at home and potentially a breakthrough in preventing many diseases – human urine contains more than 3,000 metabolites. The device can recognize whether it is dealing with ordinary flushing water or urine, collecting only the necessary samples. In addition, u-Scan can distinguish between toilet users and assign the results to the right person. The device will first be available in Europe. The U-Scan Nutri Balance app checks individual metabolism characteristics, suggesting changes in diet and fluid intake, as well as providing physical activity tips. The company announces pads for conducting professional medical-grade urine laboratory tests coming soon. The device will cost 499.95 EUR. The price includes one U-Scan reader and a cartridge that delivers test results three months long. The first two cartridges to be launched are Cycle Sync (tracking a woman's monthly cycles) and Nutri Balance (a metabolic guide for optimizing diet and hydration).
Soma Sleep [caption id="attachment_28778" align="alignnone" width="1386"] Soma Sleep[/caption] Sleep tracking upgraded. Although many smartwatches can already measure sleep cycles, the results are often imprecise. It's because they use sensors located on a wrist and interpret the results from the pulse and respiration rate and body movements. However, the most reliable method is to observe eye movements. So does Soma Sleep. The innovation uses Somalytics' SomaCap carbon-nanotube paper composite capacitive sensors placed in a comfortable, lightweight night mask. It can track all stages of sleep, including REM, delivering precise insights on sleep quality. You don't have to go to a sleep center anymore to detect sleep disruptions.
[caption id="attachment_28779" align="alignnone" width="1920"] BHeart[/caption] BHeart Now you can turn your favourite watch into a smartwatch. Firstly, BHeart is a smart bracelet compatible with classic timepieces (made of metal, available in silver, dark silver or gold tones). The developer wanted to create an affordable wearable everyone could use. Secondly, the sensor has an "endless battery" – it's charged using motion, environmental light and body heat (BMotion Technology). BHeart measures the same vital signs as most popular wearables: activity, body energy, and sleep quality. The data can be captured both by iOS and Android smartphones. The bracelet will be available from April 2023 and will cost 100 USD.
